Paulami DuttaGupta is someone who raises her voice against issues that matter, through her powerful penmanship. This award winning Khasi film writer has shed light on various serious issues that lurk in the shadows of our society. She has been especially vocal about the North East, a part of our country that has often been treated like a prosthetic arm.

Paulami’s objective is simple - she seeks to throw light on subjects that have so far been kept in the dark. And her way to enlighten people to these subjects? Through her words!

Writing has always been the most powerful tool in Paulami’s arsenal. She is a novelist and a screenwriter with an inclination towards political and social issues. She was once a copywriter, a journalist and a television analyst at different stages in her life. She is also quite the trailblazer when it comes to bringing Khasi films into the limelight. ‘Ri- Homeland of Uncertainty’, her first film as a writer, has won the National Award for Best Khasi Film at the 61st National Film Awards.

Wielding her words as a weapon, Paulami chooses to fight ignorance, and the prejudices that stem from it within society. She has been especially vocal about the North East, a part of our country that has often been treated like a prosthetic arm.

While some might say “actions speak louder than words”, Paulami is one of those people who takes action with the use of her words! And by doing so, she is here to spur others to take action as well.
