Vani Potluri

Bringing Back Our Culture

Vani Potluri, a software engineer in Florida, USA returned to India to find that Indian culture was not given importance in the country itself. She started a non-profit organisation, Bharathiya Kala Samskruthi, to remind young children and everyone else around them about the importance about arts, language, and culture.

Not every inspirational story has to involve someone from a poor background or someone facing any problems. Having everything, but still being able to see the problems others face, is just as important.

Vani Potluri, a software engineer in Florida, USA was able to accomplish this. Though her life in America was complete, though she faced no struggles, and though she didn't have to, Vani Potluri now dedicates her time, money, and self in bringing back the Indian culture.

After moving to India, she looked around and observed that the importance of Indian culture was neglected in the country itself. The importance given to the cultural arts such as music, dance, and the lost language, Sanskrit was more prominent in America than in India. Appalled by this, she started a non- profit organisation, Bharathiya Kala Samskruthi. The main aim of this organisation is to remind young children and everyone else around them about the importance of Indian arts, language, and culture.

The organisation holds annual music recitals, organises free workshops teaching students the importance of music and singing to sick patients. Individually, Vani Potluri also teaches Sanskrit in her own house and science and math in underprivileged schools.

In a world where money and time are given the highest importance, Vani Potluri proves otherwise, having sacrificed a lucrative job, a lavish lifestyle, and trying to revive the Indian culture instead.
