Renu Aggarwal

Strive for Gender Equality

Renu was unable to follow the career she had chosen after she became a mother. Determined that her children should not follow in her footsteps, she brought up her son and daughters on par. Today, each of them is successful in their chosen field, thanks to her.

I was born on 30th June 1960 and brought up in Amritsar, Punjab. I completed my B.A. and B.Ed. from Amritsar and served as a teacher in a government school for 3 years. After my marriage in the year 1983 to a businessman I settled in Delhi.

I was blessed with a baby girl in the year 1984. Due to the mindset of my business family, I had to give up my job for the upbringing of my kids. I supported my husband in our family business and imparted education to nearby students by running private coaching classes in the evenings after teaching my children and completing my household activities. I managed to complete all these activities through efficient time management and my determination towards imparting education and using my professional knowledge for the betterment of students.

Today, I am the proud mother of two daughters and a son, all of whom are professionally settled and earn the same respect in society which I earned, after completing my education.

My eldest daughter is a renowned Chartered Accountant, who, with my support and guidance, has been elected as the first lady to be Vice Chairperson of NIRC of ICAI. My younger daughter is a Dental Surgeon, for whom I set up a private dental clinic in Delhi to encourage her and support her so that she continues her profession throughout her life. My son has completed his MBBS and is now preparing himself for further studies in MD/MS and I am again here to support him throughout his life till my last breath.

I never differentiated between my daughters and my son. I always intend to encourage girls to be equivalent to boys in all spheres of life. I have sacrificed my career for the upbringing and well-being of my children. I know that whatever they are today is because they have tried to live up to my expectations.
