Rasika Tamhankar

The never-give-up student!

She never let her responsibilities at home stop her from achieving her dreams. Instead, she managed it all with a fine balance and grace.

Rasika Tamhankar is my aunt, and a role model I hold very dear. She was married at the age of 16, even before she could appear for her 'matric' examinations. But that did not snuff out her desire to learn.

Supported by her husband and in-laws, she went on to continue her education after marriage. As the years passed, her family grew, first a son, then a daughter. While looking after them and their schoolwork, she also worked on her studies - completing her graduation, then post-graduation and finally, a Ph.D. She never let her responsibilities at home stop her from achieving her dreams. Instead, she managed it all with a fine balance and grace. Ever-smiling, she has managed this feat and is now a source of encouragement to grandchildren, children, and of course nephews and nieces!
