Abha Chaudhary

Hers is the Milestone, Hers is the Sky.

Abha Chaudhary is a teacher of Chemistry at Notre Dame academy in Patna. She is presently working for the welfare and betterment of slum-dwellers too. She has connected herself to various grassroot civil society organisations.

A silent party of the world dazzled alight when the dying fire got the wind of life. Her husband caught in the octopus tentacles of cancer and ultimately left for his heavenly abode, when she was only 30, putting her in the jerk of tremendous typhoon. And, the bank was too far, so she boarded the boat of her father while her innocent child was just three. However, that too was very short. Soon, her father fell victim to motor-neuron disease and twisted with varied folds within 3 years. But she did not lose her patience, placidity and self-possession. Finally, she achieved the zenith.

She is Abha Chaudhary, a teacher of Chemistry at Notre Dame academy in Patna. She has been a decent daughter and daughter-in-law, who was trained to traverse on the straight path of life. But destiny put her and her son on a topsy-turvy track of life. In due course, her father too breathed his last. First the unbelievable demise of her husband, and now the final departure of father shuddered her a bit, but she never surrendered before fate. Without making any compromise, she went ahead with her admirable education and excellent skills of pedagogy that whisked her away to the top of popularity in education world of Bihar. So, this is rightly said that ideals are not indicted in society, nor does one need a supporting stick to reach up to the targeted destination. Abha is unique and live example of this fact.

It is said that a half-winged bird can not fly far in the sky. But Abha has negated this proverb, outright. The greatest possession that she has with her is knowledge. And, the educational milieu in which she works always keeps her moral high. Therefore, she never cared a fig for hurdles and obstacles. Going beyond the desires of fate, she made her sweet obduracy a tool to achieve her goal. This made her fearless and bold. She had never forgotten the love she had received from the society and therefore, she tried her best to bring back her life on the track for the benefit of the same society.

Death of her husband due to cancer had made Abha bankrupt both, mentally and economically. Desires were shattered, her longings had lost colors-- but her dreams were very much personal. Though, the dreams had light transparent colours, having a shadow of mystery.Yet, some invisible powers were compelling her to translate her dream into reality. Her father had taught her to be a workaholic and her mother had imbibed in her the art of adjustment. After her school duties, she started teaching the needy and poor children of her surroundings. Even today, it is her best positive. It has become her passion and now there is no looking back. She never showed pity to herself. She is presently working for the welfare and betterment of slum-dwellers too. She has connected herself to various grassroot civil society organisations. She even gives financial support to an organisation called Oxygen, that works for the betterment of environment.

Thousands of her students are doctors, engineers and bio-technology experts, who are working around the globe. Many of her taught are earning name and fame in other fields too. Last year, she was honoured with The Best CBSE Teacher Award by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. Besides, these days, she is also working as an editor-at-large for The Development Files, a representative magazine for participatory communication. In addition to her profession of teaching and environmental activities. her son Utkarsh Vikas, who was once the partner of her crisis-ridden life, is now working well with a multi-national company in Banglore. Utkarsh is not only her son, rather he is her friend, her dream and her life force.

It is true that the bygone days’ crisis of Abha's life can not be compensated, but the constructive way of leading life made Abha reach her goal in real time. It is said that sky is no limit for highly spirited individuals.
