Nutan Kumari

From Balika Vadhu to Business Woman

Nutan was a teenager forced to marry just after writing her 10th standard board exams. Despite domestic responsibilities, miscarriages, husband's job transfers and financial issues, she continued to pursue her studies further and to become a self-dependent woman.

Nutan was a teenager, when she was forced against her will to marry into a joint family just after writing her 10th standard board exams. She was reluctant to marry at that age as she wanted to study further and be self-dependent. They convinced her by allowing her to pursue the rest of her education from the Delhi University. This was otherwise not possible for a conservative Maithil society family to send an unmarried girl away and to allow her to stay alone in a city like Delhi.

After marriage things were far true from reality. She had to spend her days as a promising daughter-in-law who had to fit in with all the other roles at the in-laws place. It was in her nature to please everyone and even in her wildest dreams she never felt like hurting anyone. This was both rewarding and painful for her at times. For some reason, she decided not to give up and to continue her studies. She had to however switch from science to arts stream due to financial and time constraints.

Domestic responsibilities, miscarriages, husband's job transfers and financial issues were her major hurdles. But she never stopped and wrote her arts papers. She was the arts topper in the college. She made a decision to earn and learn in order to stay financially stable and self dependent for her personal expenses. She joined a school and completed her Graduation, B.Ed, Post Graduation in English, MBA in HR, M. Phil in English and got enrolled for PH.D.

While she was pursuing her post graduation she started to work as a visiting lecturer in reputed management and engineering colleges of Bihar. Later, she took up a management trainer’s position to educate students, teachers and working professions. Today, she has become an established name in the field of communication and soft skill development, and owns a firm called Zenith Life & Soft Skills Solutions which works in training and development.

She has one son and her husband is working as a lecturer in a management college. She gives credit to the bad days of her life which helped to bring the good days in her life. Her mission is to open a school in Mithilanchal to provide quality education to the deprived and specially girls for whom education is simply to get married and never made a priority.

She has been helping people with her potential and capabilities, and wishes to spend the rest of her life serving society through education. She wants to make every girl capable of communicating effectively no matter the change in scenario. She is already busy working on a training model to serve society and recently met the CM of Bihar to discuss her proposal to change the educational scene in Bihar.
