Helping Others Lead Better Lives

Sujata is a middle class woman with a great desire to bring about change in society. She is responsible for a number of initiatives that help women stand on their own feet.

I am Sujatha, a middle class woman who completed my graduation and worked for a private company in Hyderabad. In my childhood, I noticed that women were facing a lot of problems because of the lack of education. With those memories in mind, I started a voluntary organization with a group of friends in 1997. First, we started off by offering free vocational training, education and placements.

In 2008, we started a shelter home for destitute women and orphan young girls. Because of the difficulties these women/girls have been through, they were not only offered shelter, food, education, but also moral support. But after their education we couldn't send them anywhere because they had no family.

From 2015, we started getting some of these young educated women into good and reputed families. Till date, we have seen eight of these women married, each of them happy with the new life they've started.

One such woman is Bhavani. She joined our home in 2009 and was a class 7 dropout then. After coming to our home, she completed her intermediate (class 12) and courses in fashion designing. She got married in 2015 and is happy with her family. She runs her own boutique and earns Rs.20,000 per month. Another woman is Sri Latha. She joined our home in 2010 after running away from her house, when she was forced to get married to a 40 year old guy. After coming to our home, she completed intermediate (class 12) and currently studying nursing in KIMS, Begumpet, Hyderabad.

Many women and young girls have benefited through our organization. Looking at the improvement in their lives, is what drives me to work more and help more women.
